Important Security Notice Regarding Phishing Attempts
We want to make you aware of two fraudulent emails that may have been sent to some of our clients by someone impersonating Lewis Media Group and Jason Lewis.
The first fraudulent emails, reported on August 12, came from sales.lewismediagroup@gmail.com. The latest message was sent today from jason.lewismediagroup@gmail.com.
These emails may appear legitimate at first glance and may reference website work, project updates, payments, software purchases, or additional costs. However, they did not come from Lewis Media Group.
Lewis Media Group employees and contractors conduct business only through email addresses ending in @lewismediagroup.net. If someone claims to represent LMG but contacts you from Gmail, Yahoo, Outlook.com, or another outside domain, please treat the message as suspicious.
Red flags in the current emails include:
- The sender’s address ends in @gmail.com, not @lewismediagroup.net.
- The message claims to come from a “Certified WordPress Partner.” Lewis Media Group is not a Certified WordPress Partner, and we coordinate your website updates directly.
- One message displays Jason’s name but Jocelyn’s profile photo.
- The message requests payment, account access, software purchases, website credentials, or changes to previously agreed-upon work.
The following are not authorized Lewis Media Group email addresses:
- sales.lewismediagroup@gmail.com
- jason.lewismediagroup@gmail.com
- Any similar address using @gmail.com or another outside domain
Below are examples of the fraudulent emails so you can recognize them if you receive something similar:
If you receive a message from an unfamiliar address claiming to represent Lewis Media Group, or if something simply feels off:
- Do not reply.
- Do not send payment or financial information.
- Do not click links or open attachments.
- Do not provide passwords, login credentials, authorization codes, or account access.
- Forward the suspicious email to support@lewismediagroup.net.
- After forwarding it, report the message as phishing through your email provider and delete it.
If you are ever unsure whether a request came from us, please verify it using the Lewis Media Group contact information you already have on file – not the phone number, email address, or links included in the suspicious message.
