If you’re anything like me, you tend to wear several hats including marketing your business, have a to-do list a mile long, and get caught up in day-to-day operations. This is a good thing because it means you’re busy and are helping the people you’re supposed to, but it often leads to a neglected marketing presence. Rather than add several tasks to your list, I figured why not give you 3 simple ways to kickstart marketing in 2024 without the burnout? Don’t feel like you have to do all of them. Just choose the one that is most beneficial to you, and dive in!
Create Space in Your Calendar
This might sound daunting, but it won’t take more than 10 minutes, I promise! Look at your week, and identify one thing you can remove or adjust to add a 15 minute block. Here are a few examples:
- See if you can cancel a meeting altogether or let someone else run it. Give them the main points you want them to report back on, and trust them to do their job well. Worst case scenario is they learn from their mistakes.
- Evaluate your beginning/end of day routines. Try doing something the night before to make the next morning more open such as filling the coffee pot or writing your to-do list ahead of time.
- Look for duplicate tasks. If you check your email 10 times throughout the day, try to set 3 specific timeframes for it.
Once you’ve moved things around a bit, you should have at least 10-15 extra minutes somewhere. Use that time each day or week to start chipping away at marketing tasks.
Get an Accountability Partner
If you’re reading this, you probably already have an idea of a few marketing tasks you need to do and have been avoiding. You might even be hoping this list offers more fun tasks so you can push the others off altogether. Rather than finding new things to do, finding one person to check in with on a consistent basis is more likely to help you make progress.
If you don’t have anyone at work or in your network who can be this for you, let us know! At Lewis Media Group, we offer weekly and monthly check-ins as part of certain marketing plans to help keep things on track. We’d be happy to talk about your goals and whether a plan like this is a good fit for your business.
Pick One Area of Focus
Wearing a lot of hats means being pulled in many directions. Instead of making marketing another area of chaos, pick one thing. You do not have to post on social media twice a day, send weekly emails, run an ad campaign, and post blogs all at the same time. If you already have a system in place for one or more of these, great. Don’t change that. But, if you are at a standstill with marketing overall and thinking about it is paralyzing, just pick one thing. Which area of marketing is easiest to implement first?
Remember, it doesn’t have to be you. If someone else on your team loves being on camera and spends too much time scrolling on social media anyway, ask them if they’re willing to record 10-60 second videos weekly to post! All you have to do is keep them accountable. How great does that sound?!
Have you chosen your simple way to kickstart marketing in 2024?
If not, what are you waiting for? I’ll wait……… Okay, now that you know what you’re going to do, don’t delay. By this time next week, I hope you’ll have made at least one step towards your marketing goals for the year. And even if you haven’t, we’re still cheering you on.
